As well as top notch headliners including `Show of Hands` frontman, Steve Knightley, `Home Service`, `Skerryvore` and Richard Digance, the Southdowns Folk Festival Studio line-up looks awesome.
Taking place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September between 12 noon and 6.30pm in the Regis Centre Studio area, the artists performing are not only hugely talented but reflect an exciting and diverse range of modern British folk.
Tickets for each afternoon concert are just £10 for nearly seven hours of great entertainment and having a full weekend ticket covers entry to the Studio. The Saturday afternoon concert sees the incomparable SARAH McQUAID headlining. Sarah is one of the most accomplished guitarists in the country and her fantastic voice will make for a truly memorable occasion. She will be featuring songs from her highly acclaimed most recent album, `Walking into White`.
On Saturday, as well will be the BATH YOUNG FOLK BAND who will take your breath away with their sheer talent and energy, and all under 18 years old! BROOMDASHER are a 16-piece choir from London with thrilling harmonies and masterful renditions of some classic folk songs. The very talented GREG HARPER and the delightful and magical SADIE JEMMETT make up the sparkling bill for Saturday, plus the excellent ALAN GIBSON, BLACKCAP and ILONA.
The Sunday Studio concert is graced with the fabulous `French Geordie`, FLOSSIE MALAVIALLE who will simply blow you away will her exuberance and huge personality. Flossie has performed at the Festival before and we are delighted she is coming back. Reminiscent of Carol King and Joni Mitchell, the young HOLLIE ROGERS with her incredibly powerful voice will be appearing on the Studio stage and is definitely a `must see`. The excellent ROBERT SPIERS and American singer-songwriter, STEVE DAN MILLS, co-founder of one of the US`s very first folk-rock bands, `Speed Limit 35` will also be making an appearance. They will both entrance and enthral.
Local folk band LOXLEY also perform on Sunday afternoon, featuring a multitude of folk instruments played with great energy and talent. The concert will also see the brilliant MIKE REINSTEIN performing, plus the first class YUKON BASS and the highly talented duo, ED & OLLIE GOODALE following this year`s appearance at Glastonbury.
